FGG elects new talent for board

The Federation of Gay Games will be able to draw on yesterday’s lessons, after electing a former organiser of the Chicago Games to the position of co-president.

Kurt Dahl, a key organiser of the 2006 Games, was unanimously elected co-president of the sporting body at a vote held last week.

As a sportsman who also holds a key management position at Harris Bank, Dahl is expected to cope well as plans come together for the 2010 Cologne Games. The event is expected to attract up to 12,000 participants and 100,000 spectators.

Dahl seemed excited by the prospects of his new role.

The 2006 Games in Chicago was a life-changing experience for me, my partner and my family, he said.

I watched how the Chicago area was also transformed for the better, so I’m honoured to be able to bring my background and experience to the FGG and hope to foster synergy, collaboration and continuity between the FGG and the 2010 Gay Games organisers in Cologne.
