Games in Malaysia
GLBT sport enthusiasts from around the Asia Pacific are preparing for the 2008 Seventh Straits Games (TSG), which will be held in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur this October.
The event began as an annual competition between the Leadership Programme for Gays Malayasia and the GLBT community of Singapore represented by Men After Work, but has since branched out to include other international participants.
This year the Games will adopt the theme Soaring the Spirit of Friendship to highlight the magnitude of strengthening friendship through competing and socialising among all participants and supporters regardless of race, nationality, sex, gender or sexuality.
Competitors in the fields of badminton, bowling, volleyball, squash and tennis will do battle for the various championships. There will also be additional social events including a welcoming reception, awards dinner, clubbing and get-togethers.
