ACTIVISTS CLAIM VICTORY

RUSSIA: Russian GLBT activists are claiming victory after Moscow officials authorised what should be the city’s first legal pride march. Previously Moscow Pride had been held illegally five times while St Petersburg held its first legal pride event last year.

DON’T SAY GAY

USA: The Tennessee Senate has passed a law that would outlaw any discussion of homosexuality or gay and lesbian people by teachers in front of schoolchildren from kindergarten to year eight. The bill’s author, Senator Stacey Campfield, has claimed the bill is not biased as it would in practice ban both positive and negative discussion of homosexuality.
