London calls Convicts

Sydney Convict players Jason Brown, Mark McMillan and Stu Fenton (pictured, above) flew to London to take part the Union Cup.
The two-day gay rugby union tournament is held every two years and normally only attracts European teams and players, but this time our Australian players scored a spot on the Barbarian team.
We had all the left over players and we hadn’t played together before, but we bonded well. It’s getting better exposure now and is only half the size as Bingham Cup, said Fenton told Sydney Star Observer.
This competition is low key but probably because it’s for European teams only and the Convicts wouldn’t normally play,
The London team, the Kings Cross Steelers, took out the cup on the day. The next tournament will be held in Amsterdam in 2011.
In the meantime, The Sydney Convicts will hold a trivia night at Paddington RSL on Friday, July 24 at 7.30pm. The night will help to raise money for the Minnesota Bingham Cup trip in June 2010.

info: Bookings for the trivial pursuit night can be made for tables of 8 or 10. For bookings send an email to [email protected] .
