DJ Luke Leal

DJ Luke Leal, who is celebrating 10 years in the DJ business, gives us his favourite five dance songs at the moment.

You can hear him playing every week at Stonewall (Wednesday, Friday), Arq (Saturday, Sunday) and fortnightly at Manacle (Sunday morning). He’s currently compiling Stonewall’s first compilation CD, a two-disc set due for release in September.

GLAMOROUS LIFE (Luke Leal vs Peachy Club Mix)

Melissa Tkautz

The first single from former soap star Melissa’s soon-to-be-released comeback album is a cover of the Prince-produced 80s hit by Sheila E. Melissa’s manager played an unfinished version of this to me on her iPod and I instantly begged to do a mix of it. We gave it a guitar-infused house/ rock club feel along the lines of mrTimothy. I consider it the best remix I’ve done so far, due for release nationally on 4 September.

SLEAZY

Dirty South

Having already delivered mixes of devastating dancefloor energy for Midnight Star (Midas Touch) and mrTimothy feat. Inaya Day (Stand By Me), the Melbourne-based producer drops his first solo release. With a cool and sexy male vocal singing bittersweet lyrics over energetic big-room house production, this is already a dancefloor favourite.

LOVIN’ YOU (Paul Rincon Remix)

Poker Pets

Already on its way to being absolutely huge, the guitar-licked and piano-filled vocal house stomper has one of the most infectious vocal hooks around. Check out the cute claymation video at www.pokerpets.co.uk

FREAK ON (Ferry Corsten Vocal Mix)

Stonebridge vs Ultra Nat?strong>

Stonebridge on production? Ultra Nat?n vocals? Ferry Corsten on remix duty? It’s practically a new millennium super-group! The original mix of this is a very smooth, early-night house track, but Ferry takes it by the horns and injects his unique electro club sounds and turns it into a big-room monster.

STARLIGHT CHASER (Agnelli & Nelson Mix)

Classified Project

This is my absolute favourite trance track at the moment. Power packed with layers of energetic percussion, a pulsing bass line and soaring synths, the track swiftly builds to an effective drop that introduces a climbing riff that’ll take you through the roof.
