Helping charity is a walk in the park

A short walk goes a long way when it comes to charity, so get on your best walking shoes and get out there on November 23, for the annual Walk for AIDS.

The gentle two kilometre walk through the Botanical Gardens is open to anyone -” no fitness required -” who would like to show their support for people living with HIV while raising money for the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, Positive Life and ACON.

Bobby Goldsmith Foundation CEO Bev Lange says organisers are hoping to see a strong level of participation in this year’s event.

Walk for AIDS is aiming to attract more than 300 walkers to this year’s event and have a strong presence in the Gardens, she said.

We’re encouraging as many people to join us for the Walk for AIDS in celebration of life and as a reminder that HIV is still having a substantial impact in our community.

Lange also reminded anyone unable to participate in the walk that they could still show their support by sponsoring a walker or making a donation to an AIDS charity.

An individual sponsorship can make a real difference to someone living in poverty with HIV, Lange said.

Sponsoring a walker is also a great way of showing support to friends, work colleagues and family taking part.

info: Walk for AIDS is on Sunday November 23. Registration costs $20. For more information head to http://www.bgf.org.au/site/index.php?pageID=351
