No barriers for Fair Day

No barriers for Fair Day

Like the controversial Mardi Gras Launch, this Sunday’s Fair Day at Victoria Park will be a fully licensed event.

However, there will be no fence around the park, no bag searches and no one will be turned away for being under 18.

During a Sydney City Council meeting on Monday at which Lord Mayor Clover Moore was present, New Mardi Gras co-chairs Steph Sands and Mark Orr were quizzed by a concerned Councillor Shane Mallard on the entry conditions at Fair Day.

Sands and Orr explained small quantities of alcohol will be permitted, like a bottle of wine or six pack of beer, but large quantities will not be allowed.

We have an obligation to ensure the responsible service of alcohol and not have intoxicated patrons at our events, a NMG spokesperson said.

Fair Day starts at 10am and wraps up at 8pm.
