ChillOut to go ahead
Following the December announcement that the ChillOut Festival had shed two long-serving board members and parted ways with event management company the Adam Lowe Group, ChillOut president Adam Wright has vowed the 2010 festival will go ahead as planned.
“We’ve always been a volunteer-run festival, so [2010] will simply be the same,” Wright said.
“I’ve got great confidence in the team and we’re looking forward to a great ChillOut in 2010.”
Wright would not be drawn on the cause of the split between the ChillOut committee and the Adam Lowe Group, saying he was bound by a confidentiality agreement.
Calls to Adam Lowe have not been returned.
“This is a difficult time for us and the end of the contract with ALG places us in a challenging position with the 2010 festival just two months away,” Wright said.
“But we remain fully focused on delivering the 2010 ChillOut Festival.”
Wright paid tribute to outgoing members Geoffrey True and Jim Culbertson, who announced their departure from the committee last month. True and Culbertson said they wish the festival success in the future.
The changes to ChillOut came just days after the event organised an expanded program for 2010 to include the Monday afte the weekend festival.
Events already announced include live performances from the likes of Renee Geyer, Anthony Menchetti and Mzzz Erin Tasmania, plus a two-day golf tournament presented by Mercedes Benz and the Novotel Forest Resort Creswick.
Former Victoria Police chief commissioner and longtime gay and lesbian community ally Christine Nixon will also attend the festival as a special guest.
