Four years after the disappointing sophomore Ta-Dah, it would’ve been tempting to relegate Scissor Sisters to the ‘Where are they now?’ file. Thankfully, they’ve returned with one of the pop albums of the year. Dark, seedy and sexed up, Night Work bids a final farewell to the jazz-hands tendencies of their jauntier early work. Early buzz single Invisible Light is still the best thing here, but it’s joined by killer tracks like Running Out, Skin Tight, and the Kylie-on-backing-vocals treat Any Which Way.
