Sunday’s the day to get sweaty.

Sports Day Out is finally here, complete with a finalised itinerary, so start exercising your highlighting skills before you hit the field this Sunday to make sure you make the most of this once-a-year event.

Registration for the event will open at 11.30am on the main lawn area of Sydney Boys High before City of Sydney councillor Phillip Black officially launches the event at 12.45pm.

If that’s too long for you to wait before you launch into some sporting fun, then never fear. As soon as you have registered you have the option of either heading over to see the volleyball display put on by the Freezoners or warming up with a spot of social tennis.

The annual tug of war match at 1.15pm is sure to be a highlight of the day, which will feature a range of social activities as well as presenting opportunities to meet some sporting names, like ex-cycling Olympian Michelle Ferris.

Celebrities aside though, this is your opportunity to get active and get social. Meet some fellow athletes and try out as many sports as you could ever want to.

To get involved, you will need to bring your own equipment where possible, including tennis racquets, ballroom dancing shoes and knee pads if needed. A yoga mat could come in handy if you want to get involved with one of the Pilates displays, or just to sit on the grass while you indulge in the sausage sizzle. No matter what sports you try out though, everyone is encouraged to bring sunscreen as most of the events happen outside.

Info: Sports Day Out is on Sunday 12 October, 11am-5pm at Sydney Boys High School. Details: www.teamsydney.org.au
