Darwin residents are preparing themselves for the nine day celebration of the Darwin Pride Festival. The festival runs from November 16-25 with events including the Sunset Harbour Cruise, Art of Pride exhibition, dance parties, a film night and family day.

“After talking with our community we decided to include few new events into the mix,” festival spokesman James Emery said.

“It gets a bit steamy in November, so we want to make sure that there are lots of places to cool down.”

The Darwin Pride Festival is an annual event and underpinning the entire festival is the core understanding that it is ‘run by the community, for the community’.

“We’re a group of volunteers from the community throwing a celebration that welcomes everyone, where we can all celebrate what it is that makes us proud,” Emery said.
