We’re talking softball

The 2008 softball season is about to begin, but if you aren’t sure if you want to commit yet, Sports Day Out on October 12 offers the perfect opportunity to have a social hit and meet some of the Sydney Outfielders.

Outfielders president Jappe Wouters says it is set to be an event that both long time softballers and newcomers will enjoy.

Sports Day Out is a great opportunity to try out a variety of sports on exhibition and a wonderful way of honing your skills for the season, he told Sydney Star Observer.

Seasoned players will be on hand to give pointers and it’s a great opportunity to meet other members of the league.

It is also the perfect time to register with the team, hear about their ambitions for the 2009 Copenhagen Outgames or show some support by purchasing a hot dog.

We will be holding a sausage sizzle all day to raise funds for a delegation to be sent to the Outgames in Copenhagen, Jappe said.

Our players are in full fundraising mode, with a variety of activities scheduled such as trivia nights, and a raffle with some incredible accommodation and airfare prizes. We’re hoping that we might be able to get a GLBT venue on board to offer us an evening to hold a fundraiser for the delegation as well.
