Naked Yoga Sydney is a private group in the Newtown and St Peters area for men interested in practising yoga without the restrictions of clothing.
Operating for the past four years, the group has provided the community with an atmosphere of companionship, body-acceptance and sensuality.
“The community been very positive about the class and has built up a tight community of supportive guys who come along to class. It’s a strong supportive group,” Naked Yoga Sydney founder and instructor Steve told Sydney Star Observer.
“We don’t discriminate on sexual preferences. It’s predominantly gay men but we also have straight and bisexual men who come along.
“One of the aims of Naked Yoga Sydney is to build up a supportive environment. Practising naked affords us total freedom of movement while enjoying the sensuality of naked exercise among friends.”
Naked Yoga Sydney runs four classes a week and caters to all abilities. The group also holds a ‘Touch More Tantric’ class twice a month, which celebrates sensuality and sexuality through more partner work, massage and touch.
“It should be clear that this is not intended to be a blatantly sexual class, but it will involve a greater degree of closeness and touch,” Steve said.
“Doing yoga naked does build a sensual energy but it’s not sexual and we don’t stimulate each other like that.”
At the end of the year the group will go on a weekend retreat in the Blue Mountains.
