Calendar girls

Calendar girls

Two of Melbourne’s oldest gal pals became involved in totally unrelated slap-fests last Saturday.

One was the result of a bungled de-wigging, the other a victim of some hetero push and shove at the bar.

Both resulted in these ladies letting their fingers, and palms, do the talking. Ahhh yes, that’s how we did things in the ‘80s. I’ve warned punters before, when visiting the zoo don’t poke the exhibits!

The gorgeous Jamie Lee Skye has been snapping away with her box brownie in preparation for her Legends of Drag calendar. This masterpiece is to be unveiled before January 1.

Twelve of our finest have been immortalised by Ms Lee and it’s a veritable cat fight to see who gets which month.

Jamie is also hard at work on a calendar featuring Melbourne’s prettiest boys, all fresh, all new and all handsome. Honey, if you do a calendar featuring 30-something Greek muscle bears, let me know. That I would be keen on doing the styling (yes, I am an otter)!

Well girls, there’s been drama aplenty at a certain Commercial Rd establishment. Firstly, one of our loveliest and most delightful gals isn’t allowed within “spittin’ distance” of another queen’s BF, who happens to work there. The Facebook feud continues.

Then, a recently returned Duracell bunny found herself forcibly ejected from the stage by one of the venue’s top stars. Ohhh, quelle dramatic!

Another Commercial Rd venue is undergoing renos again. I swear one more layer of paint and you won’t be able to get inside the joint.

Which venue in town may allegedly be featuring bar tenders who are “chronologically challenged”? Ohh naughty, naughty.

It is with regret I announce the shock demise of Bitch Fridays. Out of nowhere the axe fell last Monday. Bitch Friday featured the talents of undoubtedly Melbourne’s best comedy duo, Tabitha and Pussy, as well as a cavalcade of guests each week.

The couple of times I was fortunate enough to be a guest there I had a ball. Such a fun night and a real shame. Big shout out to Lawrence and Claude who put heart and soul into it.

As they say, that’s showbiz, but shocking nonetheless. Just shows you, one minute you’re in, the next you’re out.

I have a feeling this won’t keep these girls down for long. Irrepressible wit and talent has a way of floating to the top, like cream in a latte.

Until next time, remember, camp can mean a thousand things.
