Hello, hello!

Hello, hello!

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Polly Filla and I dance around on stage dressed in frocks, miming the words to other people’s songs.

I’m really flattered to have been asked to continue on the good work of Rita La Coqueater as she sets sail for a relaxing new life on a small secluded island in the Seychelles surrounded by horny cabana boys to wait on her hand and heel.
So I thought, where best to start than with a subject I am a bit of an expert on: ME!

I moved here almost five years ago now, from Wellington — the capital of New Zealand (pop 350,000) — to Melbourne, which has the entire population of NZ in its city and outer suburbs. I’d only visited Melbourne once prior to moving, for a week — but that was enough for me and I knew this was a place I wanted to live and work in.

While in Wellington, I produced several Miss Drag and Mr Gay Wellington Pageants and my own theatre shows. I designed costumes for theatre and television productions, appeared in movies and walked the red carpet for the premiere of Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers — in full slap!

Did I ever regret leaving Wellington? No. Melbourne has such a range of cultural diversity. You can attend a Pink concert on Thursday, and then perform as her at a venue on Friday. Musicals, opera, ballet, cabaret and theatre productions abound, and there seems to be a new festival opening every week, not to mention the many venues with drag shows!

You can see me on stage on Fridays at Hung at The Spot (133 Sydney Rd, Brunswick), Saturdays at the Commercial Hotel (Whitehall St, Yarraville) and getting messy with the boys ’n’ girls at Sircuit on Sundays (Smith St, Fitzroy).

That’s all from me. Until next time.

My lips are sealed (but my legs are wide open!).
