The pack, which was funded and compiled by anti-trans lobby group Binary Australia, encourages parents to quiz schools over which bathrooms trans students use and warns against “indoctrination programs” that use “politically correct ‘code’ words like ‘anti-bullying'”.
NSW Police told the inquiry that despite internal efforts, “homophobic or transphobic sentiments have not been eliminated entirely from the force, or from society more generally”.
The inquiry was announced in September to investigate LGBTI hate crimes which took place between 1970 and 2010.
“The focus of many of these violent attacks was in, and around, Marks Park. This memorial will help acknowledge and heal the trauma these events have caused for the families of the victims as well as the LGBTI community”
