Evangelicals force ‘Straight Pride Day’
The city council of Sao Paulo, Brazil has approved a bill establishing a ‘Straight Pride Day’ after evangelical leaders pushed the measure when they were unable to get ride of the city’s gay pride event.
Carlos Apolinário, the representative who championed the idea, had previously tried to get Sao Paulo’s gay pride parade removed from the city’s well-known Paulista Avenue.
Apolinário said the bill was not against the gay community, but that the project was a way to speak out against “excesses and privileges” for the gay community.
Brazil’s LGBT community have long complained about ongoing homophobia in the country. There have been a number of homophobic attacks in Sao Paulo and a conservative politician, Jair Bolsonaro, said last April that if he had a gay son, he would beat him up until he started to behave “like a man”.
There was a breakout of violence across the city in response to the comments.
Several councilors spoke out against the ‘Straight Pride Day’ Bill, despite its passage, and the final approval of the measure will rely on the sanction of Sao Paulo mayor, Gilberto Kassab.
‘Straight Pride Day’ will be celebrated every third Sunday of December, if it gets final approval.
In May, Brazil’s Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples deserved the same rights and entitlements as married heterosexual couples and found that language in the Constitution and Civil Code discussing marriage as being between “a man and a woman” did not constitute a ban on same-sex marriage.

Every day is straight pride day.

I’m Brazilian, and I live in Sao Paulo. I don’t support the bill. Not because straight people don’t deserve a day but because of the arguments used by the author, an evangelical one. The arguments for the bill are the worst example of prejudice (the author, among others ‘pearls’, says that gay couples shouldn’t show public affection), and the ‘Straight Pride’ Day is created, according the project, to support ‘moral and good values’, as if gays are against that!

This is hilarious. Yes i can see why hets would want a straight pride day, because as we know they have suffered at the hands of discrimination, bigotry and hatred on a daily basis and their rights to be who they want to be have often been denied.
Is this for fuckin real? Talk about insecure, and arrogant.

Every gay couple in the world should go and line the streets and cheer wildly in support of Straight Pride Day. If they get enough support and learn to feel secure with themselves, then they will not have a problem supporting Gay rights.

[To Starobserver: This is what I found while netting away.]
WHAT WILL DESTROY AMERICA
Jesus predicted 2000 years ago (in Luke 17) that just before His return to earth as Judge, there will be a strange worldwide fad notable for its speed, boldness, violence, and impudent in-your-face openness. He called this craze the repetition of the “days of Lot” (see Genesis 19 for details). By helping to fulfill this spontaneous worldwide mania quietly coordinated by unseen forces, gays are actually hurrying up the final Judgeship of Christ. What’s really scary is the phrase “reprobate mind” found in Romans 1:28. One can ignore one’s conscience so much that God finally turns that person over to the “reprobate mind” of the most diabolical leader of evil in the universe. When this happens it’s almost as if the brainwashed human being has signed a statement saying “I don’t ever want God and don’t care if I end up in Hell!” The entire first chapter of Romans explains why God is forced to eventually and sorrowfully abandon certain individuals who constantly choose evil over good and ignore their conscience! If you’re laughing at this message, you may have almost reached the point of no return. Be sure to keep on laughing when God allows entire cities to be suddenly destroyed. Revelation 16:18-19 describes the greatest earthquake of all time which will level the “cities of the nations” – a quake that’s never achieved this in the past. There’s only one thing that can destroy America – no matter who becomes President – and that’s a four-letter word: EVIL. Change the letters and you can become totally VILE (and thus do your part to force God to send America even more disasters). Or better yet, you can turn to Christ (He’s the “Creator” that America’s founders referred to). And He’s alive and promises to reveal Himself to you if you will just pray to Him in your own words and tell Him what you need! If you decide to partner with Him, He can change the letters in EVIL and show you how you can really LIVE – and you’ll kick yourself for not checking Him out sooner! Remember, He can forgive and erase from His records ANY sin – even murder – since He’s the only Saviour who can do this! I write this in the spirit of love because I care for the part of you that will live forever in either Heaven or Hell!
Ed: so by your logic, fundamentalist Christians should be ardent supporters of same-sex marriage and gay rights as it will hurry up the Judgement of Christ.

Ed: No genuine Christian relishes seeing anyone getting punished for evil! A true Christian knows that the Bible predicts bad things in the future as well as good things. According to the Bible, when Christ returns He will separate humanity; His true followers will be rewarded with eternal life with Him in Heaven, but unrepentant wicked persons will receive His wrath. One of our duties, as Christians, is to warn others about the future and warn them to be ready for it. If there is no Heaven or Hell in the future, have I lost anything by believing in Heaven? But if there’s one chance in a million that they do exist, and that the only way to escape Hell is by following and trusting in Christ, what have I lost by not being a Christian? The Bible predicts that in the end of human history the world will be overwhelmingly secular and strongly anti-God – even in countries that were originally pro-Christian and pro-decency. The same book predicts that because of this rebellion, God will allow worldwide chaos to reign for a while – the exception to all this being pockets of real Christianity here and there in many countries in the midst of surrounding evil. I have done most everything in life that folks consider evil. But I found out that Christ can give greater satisfaction than everyone and everything else. Christ even gave me a miraculous healing from certain death. He IS alive and can communicate with anyone curious enough to try Him out. Remember, He is a spirit being (who, as God, was able to walk this earth in human form) and he can easily communicate with us because the real part of any of us is our unseen spirit. There are hundreds of predictions in the Bible that have already been fulfilled to the exact letter – and there are more that will be fulfilled and anyone can read, for instance, the Book of Revelation to find out what the world of tomorrow will be like. If anyone would like to see how famous people have regarded the Bible, he or she can Google or Yahoo “Dangerous Radicals of the Religious Right.” Thanks, Editor, for allowing me to respond to you.
