Diana Anaid – Diana Anaid

Diana Anaid’s come a long way since bursting on  to the scene in 1997 with the upfront I Go Off, but she still has her fighting spirit intact. Opening track Make Me Change My Name rebukes both her abusive father and the music industry that has tried to mould her, while the rockabilly-tinged Cynical On Waking is a wholehearted embrace of her flaws. The only slight misstep is a perfunctory cover of the 4 Non Blondes classic What’s Up, but we can forgive her that as she sings it so well.
