POLITICIANS from across the political divide recently came together for an LGBTI community forum held ahead of the NSW State Election later this month.

Organised by the NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby, LGBTI health body ACON and the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association, the hustings saw all the major parties quizzed on matters ranging from the use of crystal meth in the gay community, same-sex marriage, trans* rights, domestic violence, mental health, and a police apology for the violence of the 1978 Mardi Gras.

The following videos are some of the highlights of the event:

Sydney state independent MP Alex Greenwich on the effect of the marriage equality campaign

On the expungement legislation and apologies

Upper house Greens MP Mehreen Faruqi on the need to re-look at the state drug policy

Upper house Labor MP Penny Sharpe on anti-discrimination legislation

Upper house Nationals MP Trevor Khan on the slow progress of reform

    • Mate he now supports marriage equality, update your news a little and also another update, marriage equality “with a conscience vote” – is now officially NSW Labor party policy now (as it has been with the Greens and the Sex Party for years)!

      Vote 1 Sex Party!
