WHEN it comes to why she has such a huge gay following, pop superstar Kylie Minogue has exclusively told the Star Observer she doesn’t “want to know how a magic trick happens”.

In a wide-ranging interview in this July’s print edition of the Star Observer, the singer talks about her long history with the gay community, her judging role on The Voice and how she copes with press criticism.

One of the most recent attacks on Minogue came earlier this year when she performed the Pharrell Williams-penned track I Was Gonna Cancel, from her latest album Kiss Me Once, at the Logies.

Allegations emerged suggesting many of the dancers on stage hadn’t been paid.

It was not her responsibility, Minogue insists, but it was her name in the headlines “that just really put a dampener on everything.”

“It was frustrating and I would hope people know me well enough to know that’s just not how I operate,” she adds.

“I was kind of dragged into something but we remedied the situation and everyone was taken care of.”

However, Minogue has fewer explanations for the LGBTI community’s enduring love affair with her.

“I don’t know and I kind of don’t want to know; do you really want to know how a magic trick happens?” she says.

“I love to look out over my audiences and see a big gay and lesbian section complete with muscle marys and drag queens next to grandmas and grandpops next to boys and girls.

“It seriously fills my heart with love.”
