Tydi – Shooting Stars
On this, his second album, 24-year-old Brisbane DJ Tydi reveals a predilection for a soaring female vocal that means he’s likely to find a receptive audience in queer dance fans. While his tastes veer from progressive trance to house, Tydi furnishes his beats with ethereal vocals from the likes of Tania Zygar, Brianna Holan and Tenishia on tracks like the gorgeous Greater Heights and Why Do I Care? Throughout, it’s dance with heart and a welcome antidote to the brash, sexed-up sounds of some of Tydi’s contemporaries. Clearly there’s a reason he’s currently listed as Australia’s #2 DJ.
