Feast of flesh on film

Queer sex comedy franchise Eating Out has turned into something of a cottage industry: while Eating Out 4: Drama Camp was only released in Australia on DVD last month, the producers are already prepping the fifth film for release.

Both instalments, shot back-to-back, contain the series’ trademark mix of camp humour and gratuitous sex and nudity.

Cast member Daniel Skelton, who plays Casey in the films, told the Star Observer he’d managed to avoid disrobing so far in the series.

“I can’t speak for the other actors who have to do it, but I think everyone understands it’s part of the job. Sex sells, and this is what helps get an audience interested.

“But I also think the audience — particularly our fans, the ones who watch each movie — enjoy it for more than the sex and nudity. It’s also about the snappy writing and the pop culture references,” he said.

While he may not nude up in the film, Skelton still has a fair few steamy scenes with his attractive co-stars Chris Salvatore and Ronnie Kroell.

“Ronnie and I got along really well and luckily our romantic scenes were towards the end of the shoot, so we had time to get to know each other.

“As for Chris, we’ve been friends for a couple of years now, so we approached it in a fun and silly way, which made it a lot easier.”
