MISSOURI – CHRISTINE WUNNICKE

MISSOURI – CHRISTINE WUNNICKE

How’s this for an unlikely read: a tale of a homosexual liaison between two men in the 19th century American midwest, penned by a female German author in the 21st century.

Translated by David Miller, this slim but exciting novel is a great read for those of who you who loved Brokeback Mountain (i.e. everyone).

The stakes are higher than in Brokeback, too — the two men in Missouri meet when one, a feral young outlaw, robs the other and takes him hostage.

I’ve had worse dates.
