New leadership for Rainbow Families

The Rainbow Families Council welcomed its new co-convenors, Samantha Walsh and Felicity Marlowe, at its AGM on Saturday, September 1 at CERES Park.

Nearly 50 people saw the return of four members to the management committee and seven new faces.

For 2011-2012, the council worked towards getting a fifth city council to use their ‘Who is in your Family?’ educational posters.

The posters were also reprinted overseas in Portugese and Spanish after committee members took the posters to the second European LGBTI Families conference in Spain.

The council outlined its plans for the next year such as its continued advocacy for adoption law reform in Victoria.

The committee is also developing a training program for the early childhood sector, finalising its Primary School Family Diversity Project and look into a national rainbow families alliance in the lead up to the next federal election.
