BLACK EYED PEAS – THE BEGINNING

While the Black Eyed Peas’ last album was irritatingly ubiquitous – perhaps there’s sherpa somewhere in Nepal who hasn’t yet heard I Gotta Feeling – there was no denying the strength of the party songs on offer.

With this rush-released album, the party’s turned sour. Lead single The Time (Dirty Bit), with its cheesy Dirty Dancing sample and ill-fitting electro beat, is a late contender for worst single of the decade.

It’s the worst song here, but highlights are few and far between — head for the Chic-sampling Fashion Beats or the No Doubt-esque The Situation.
