The Scissor Sisters have announced an “indefinite hiatus” after finishing up their UK tour in London overnight.

The New York-based band, which recently toured Australia and took part in Big Gay Weekend festivities in Sydney, had fans in a panic last night after news of the announcement at their final concert hit social media.

Frontman Jake Shears sought to alleviate fears by tweeting that the band was simply taking a break.

“Thank you London for all your love. And don’t worry, we’re not going away forever. We’ll be back before you know it. With bells on. Love u J,” he wrote.
