Rafael Bonachela will stay at Sydney Dance Company as its artistic director until December 2014, after the organisation’s board of directors offered the Spanish choreographer another three years at the helm.

The former choreographer for Kylie Minogue (including her Fever tour) has transformed the company since taking over in 2009, bringing in a surplus of nearly $150,000 last year and winning over critics and national audiences with productions such as 360° and We Unfold.

In 2011, the company will perform in Canberra, Germany, Western Australia, Darwin, Brisbane, New York, Barcelona and the UK.

Bonachela’s The Land of Yes & the Land of No will open in Sydney in October.
