Rihanna has just unveiled the video clip for the fifth single from her hugely successful Loud album and it’s already attracting controversy for its violent ending.

Penned by rising urban pop star Shontelle, Man Down is a moody ballad about the end of a relationship but the gritty film clip puts a whole new spin on the lyrics.

At the beginning of the video, which was filmed on location in Jamaica, the Barbadian superstar takes out a gun and shoots a man.

It turns out the victim had sexually assualted Rihanna the night before outside a club and she is exacting her revenge.

The storyline has been described as irresponsible by some critics, while others have applauded the S&M singer’s bravery in tackling a difficult subject matter.

Check out the clip below and let us know what you make of Riri’s latest video.
