Shiny new gem from Marina
Marina and The Diamonds (aka Marina Lambrini Diamandis) has a brand new new track to follow on from her stellar offering, The Family Jewels, last year.
The new song is titled Fear and Loathing and introduces a character played by Diamandis called Electra Heart.
She recently told Popjustice in an interview that:
“Electra Heart is the antithesis of everything that I stand for. And the point of introducing her and building a whole concept around her is that she stands for the corrupt side of American ideology, and basically that’s the corruption of yourself. My worst fear – that’s anyone’s worst fear – is losing myself and becoming a vacuous person. And that happens a lot when you’re very ambitious.”
The song is the first to be taken from the Welsh singer/songwriter’s forthcoming second album but it’s not an official single. A second song will be released next Monday, August 15.
It’s reported the full album will be available on iTunes on September 26.
