Conchita Wurst sings to the UN, advocates for LGBTI equality

EUROVISION 2014 winner Conchita Wurst has this week performed live in front of the United Nations gathering in Vienna, performing a cover version of Cher’s Believe.

Following her performance and alongside UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Wurst, whose real name is Tom Neuwirth, spoke of her continued fight for equality.

“Each and everyone wants to be respected, each and everyone wants to receive respect, but it just can be respected if you respect others,” she said.

“Unfortunately, still there are many many countries and people out there who think that human rights are just some people and not for everybody.
