Harbour Party experiences CoolChange

Mardi Gras Harbour Party will this year unveil a number new features including a fresh new name and day change to Saturday, February 25.

Making its debut as CoolChange, Harbour ‘12 organisers are promising a new party experience under the artistic direction of Gill Minervini whose credits include ten years as creative director for events at the City of Sydney and creative directorial roles on a number of Pride NYE parties, Mardi Gras pool parties and production roles with several Mardi Gras Party shows.

“Anyone who has been to Harbour Party will tell you the stunning Harbourside setting mixed with the eclectic and electric ambience generated by Harbour’s diverse crowd makes this an international event not to be missed,” Minervini said.

“We have pooled our creative talents to increase CoolChange’s offering this year and ensure we appeal to an even broader audience.”

This year the CoolChange party landscape will feature a main dance space and performance stage, a signature ‘groove’ area featuring DJs Richard Weiss and Random Soul, chill-out zones, a Finlandia Cocktail Bar and Barefoot Wine Bar.

“The name CoolChange is inspired by the two distinct moods of the party,” Minervini said.

“The gorgeous afternoon is about meeting, greeting and sipping on cocktails to some amazing tunes, while the evening energy is about working the dance floor to a more up tempo beat.”

With a DJ line-up headed by special international guest DJ Lee Dagger (pictured) of Bimbo Jones fame, CoolChange will serve up a soundscape that is as fresh as its picturesque locale.

Having remixed tracks for artists including Lady Gaga, The Killers, Pink and Britney Spears, Lee Dagger has made his mark on the decks and dance floor and will bring his signature style to CoolChange.

As will former Australian Idol star Paulini, who’ll be performing for partygoers on the day.

CoolChange will also include a fireworks display, illuminating the night sky with the collective colours of pride.

“We’re bringing fireworks back to Harbour Party and we are going to make sure it frames the night and compliments the setting with the colour and diversity that reflects the unique CoolChange crowd,” explained Minervini.

CoolChange: Harbour ’12 takes place on Saturday, February 25 at Fleet Steps, Mrs Macquaire’s Point from 3pm — 11pm.
