It’s now just under 100 days until the Gay Games VIII commence in Cologne, Germany on July 31.

More than 6500 sportsmen and women from more than 70 countries have already registered for the sporting meet and cultural event. By way of comparison, less than half that number — around 2500 athletes — participated in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

The deadline for registration for the Cologne Gay Games is May 31, so there’s only one month left to confirm your place at the weeklong sporting and cultural event. Ticket sales for many of the major events, including the opening night party, have already begun, so it’s a good idea to book before you leave for Cologne.

The preparations for the Games are running on schedule, but in order to ensure the smooth running of the numerous cultural events and sporting meets, 3000 volunteers are required. Volunteers can register on the Cologne Gay Games homepage.
