Accepting trivia entries for charity

The Sydney Catholic gay group Acceptance is anticipating another great Mardi Gras.

“We are holding our annual Mardi Gras Trivia Night fundraiser for Stanford House this Saturday 9 February,” group spokesman Tim said.

“We will have our stall at Fair Day and we are gearing up for a fun but very topical entry in Mardi Gras parade.

“Our annual Mardi Gras Mass will be held on the eve of the parade, Friday 29 February”.

The trivia night will be held at St Joseph’s Church, Newtown (cnr Lennox and Station St), starting 7pm. Funds raised support Stanford House at Stanmore, which provides supported accommodation for people with HIV/AIDS.

“Attendances at our weekly mass at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Newtown on Friday nights and at our home Masses continue to increase”, Tim said.

“We had over 50 people last Friday night and it is great to see so many people affirming that it is okay to be gay and Catholic.”

Acceptance is a group for gay and lesbian Catholics, their families and friends. Established over 30 years ago, Acceptance holds a weekly Mass on Friday evenings at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Newtown. Acceptance also holds Masses in private homes, a number of social events and proudly participates in Fair Day and the Mardi Gras Parade.
