FAERY TALES

Cabaret performer Martin Badoui is promising candour, characters and wit at his new Saturday Night Live cabaret show at Mr Mary’s in Redfern. The six-week run opens on 27 January, with Badoui cast as Mr Mary’s Faery and delivering comedy, impersonations and song. Mr Mary’s is at 106 George St, corner of Redfern St, Redfern. Saturday Night Live runs from 7:30pm to 9pm.

THE ABSINTH CLUB

Expect an encounter with the Green Fairy and much more when variety show promoter Sugartime brings its burlesque extravaganza The Absinth Club to Sydney in February.

Over 50 of Australia’s burlesque performers will star alongside an Eastern European rock band and dancers. The Absinth Club is on Saturday 10 February from 8:30pm at The Gaelic Club, 64 Devonshire St, Surry Hills. Find out more and book through the Sugartime website.

ATTENTION PLEASE

Monthly gay club event Attention Deficit Disco returns on Australia Day, Friday 26 January. Billed as a night of funked-up house, the Australia Day Disco will have DJs Gemma, Ben Kelly and Scotty J.

SCISSOR SISTERS

The fabulous fivesome from New York will be performing three shows in Sydney for their Australian tour in February. Second and final shows at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on 5 and 6 February are now on sale. Tickets are $79.90 and can be booked through Ticketmaster on 136 100 or at the Ticketmaster website.

ARQ-STRALIA DAY

A weekend of patriotic duty will commence a few days early at Arq with Drag for Dollars on Wednesday 24 January. Expect Australia Day d?r on Thursday 25 January with the sounds of DJ Josh from Adelaide alongside DJs Missgee, Rob Davis and Justin Scott for $20 on the door. Moist returns on Friday 26 January with a foam party for the ladies and their friends.

The girls will groove to DJs Kelly Lynch, Sveta, Sandi Hotrod and Missgee, and shows by Leana and her girls for $15 on the door. Saturday 27 January will be the regular Dance Dance Dance party with the fantastic sounds of Jake Kilby and Jayson Forbes in the main Arena and Luke Leal, Jimmy Dee and Peter Farris in the Vortex for $10 before midnight and $20 after.

Sunday 28 January, the end to an amazing Australia Day weekend, will include an Australian tribute show, presented this year by Feminem to entertain the crowd in the Arena at 1:30am. DJs for the night are Jimmy Dee, Sandi Hotrod, Justin Scott, Luke Leal and Greg Boladian for $5 on the door.
