Big band goes camp

The Homotones will play in the Summer Camp arena at Summer Gay Day on Saturday 1 December.
So, who are the Homotones?
“We are Sydney’s, biggest, best and only gay and lesbian community band,” conductor Cathy Chan said.
“We play just about everything and we have a wide repertoire.
“Most of the people in the band enjoy playing lots of different stuff from classical and pop to disco and show tunes.”
Now in its 10th year, the band is made up of a diverse range of people and instruments. Rehearsals are held in the inner west in preparation for performances all over Sydney and beyond.
“At Summer Gay Day we will be playing a wide range of stuff to get people in the mood for the day – a bit of camp,” Chan said.
“The day is a fantastic initiative for everyone to come together and enjoy the arts. We’re flattered to be a part of it.”
