Butz plans to get cheeky

The very sexy Seymour Butz is one of the headline DJs at Summer Gay Day this year.
Butz, one of the gay community’s favourite DJs, is playing in the Summer Lovin’ Arena.
He told SSO it was incongruous the community didn’t have more outdoor events given we live in one of the world’s most beautiful and picturesque cities.
But, he added, getting the chance to play music outdoors at the festival had inspired him to create something really special for the crowd.
“I’ll be dropping music associated with the emerging genres of machotek, sauna beat, menergy, homo electro, and some banging man-themes,” Butz said.
“The sounds will get you sweaty, as art can never exist without naked beauty displayed.
“I’ve been promised a great sound system and I’m being backed up by some of the city’s finest homo jocks. Think deep, primal, burly, predatory, and leg-opening tunes.”
Butz will be joined in the Summer Lovin’ Arena by DJs Sveta, Mark Murphy and Sista P – not to forget the Aussie Pole Boys.
The day also falls on World AIDS Day so organisers will be supporting the Red Ribbon Appeal with merchandise available for purchase around the grounds.
“It is a celebration of the change of season, in the glorious outdoors and not too far away from the beat at Centennial Park,” Butz said.
“Our own day dance festival is a unique way of coming together. It’s wonderful it doesn’t have a parasitic relationship to Mardi Gras like a recovery. It’s not a revolution or demonstration – it’s a celebration.”
Summer Gay Day is being held at Kippax Lake, Moore Park, in the Centennial Parklands on Saturday 1 December from noon to 10pm. As well as the Summer Lovin’ Arena, there will be two other stages, plus a host of other activities and entertainment to enjoy.
Tickets for Summer Gay Day start at $89 plus booking fee and can be bought from www.samesame.com.au, Moshtix, Salt Clinic and HUM Darlinghurst and Newtown.
