Cold comfort
Wow, it was so cold last weekend, it could have frozen the baubles off a brass monkey, dare I say. No problems for anyone with tucking, let me tell you. But that didn’t force anyone to stay at home or even line up out the front of Stonewall for up to 45 minutes. Are you all mad? I was thinking as I jumped from a moving maxi-taxi in nothing more than a piece of fabric held together with a brooch. Well, it is quite obvious who really is the mad one. Yes, I know, I’m the stupid bitch, but it did look great!
I had arrived at Stonewall just in time to catch part two of the new show starring island princess Tess Tickle, new girl on the block Minnie Cooper and grande dame of drag Trudi Valentine. As you can imagine, with a show that Trudi is in, the dancing is fabulous, each girl dancing up a storm on that tiny stage. Not only was I impressed with the moves, but the fact that none of the girls ended up arse over fake tit into the crowd also had me wowing with delight. After the show I fought my way out of Stonewall (it was so busy that it actually was a struggle to get out) and swiftly waddled down to the Shift. Though I wasn’t paying much attention to what I looked like, only trying to get out of the cold, I soon slowed down to a sexy walk when I heard a passer-by yell, Run, Forrest, run.
When I finally made it to the Shift, near death with cold but sashaying up a storm, I was just in time to see their new show starring Amelia Airhead-Smith and Joyce Maynge. It’s set in the future and the girls are transformed and rocketed around the Midnight Shift like crazy people. With moveable sets, pyrotechnics and four of the best-looking boys in Sydney, this big budget show really whips the audience into a frenzy. Mind you, it was hard to judge what I enjoyed more, the show or being pressed up against all those sexy boys.
When it was finished, I took myself up to Olympic Yeeros for a piece of piping hot pizza and my warm bed. Although this weather does lend itself to a wealth of accessories, sometimes the best place is under your doona in front of the TV.
EYESPY I must say a big happy birthday to the Midnight Shift for this weekend. As you can imagine, the party will stretch throughout the whole weekend, ending with the annual staff drag show on Sunday. With the staff show hosted by Trudi Valentine and with special appearances by Penny Tration and me, it looks to be an absolute hoot. See you there. I will either be the fat lady or a clown but by the end I hope to be a contortionist.
Who will be filling in for Vanity this weekend when she takes a quick trip up to the Big Brother house? It might warrant a trip to the Shift to see Divastated on my day off just to find out.
