Gay British historian and sociologist Professor Jeffrey Weeks will appear at a Pride History Group Mardi Gras event this weekend.

Weeks is the author of several books about sexuality and politics, including Sex, Politics and Society and Coming Out: Homosexual Politics in Britain from the Nineteenth Century to the Present.

One of the academics from the early period of gay men’s studies in Britain, Weeks joined the Gay Liberation Front in 1970, and was a founding member of the Gay Left.

He will speak about ‘The World We Have Won’, the theme of one of his latest books, at a Queer Thinking afternoon at the Riverside Theatre in Parramatta on February 18. His talk will follow a ‘Mass Debate’ on topics including youth and identity, gay life in Western Sydney, and issues audience members raise.

Entry to both events is $10 plus a transaction fee.
