Get ready for a gay summer day

Sydney’s newest gay and lesbian music event, Summer Gay Day, is on this Saturday at Kippax Lake in the Centennial Parklands.
First and second release tickets have already sold out and final release tickets are on sale for $99. A limited number of tickets will be available at the gate for $110, unless sold out prior.
Sydney has major and established outdoor music festivals in unique sites and parklands, including Big Day Out, V Festival, Homebake, Good Vibrations, Field Day, Parklife and now we have one of our very own. This is our Summer Gay Day, event co-organiser Margot Natoli said.
Fellow event co-organiser Alan Thompson said Summer Gay Day would be a unique opportunity for gays, lesbians and their family and friends to party.
For me, Summer Gay Day marks the beginning of the party season and is an opportunity for the wider community to come together in a beautiful location and enjoy the varied forms of entertainment, from dance music and live performance to burlesque. It’s summer and time to party in the park.
A string of great DJs have signed on to play the event including Sveta, Kate Monroe, Alex Taylor and Seymour Butz.
Aunty Mavis will also be there, as will Jade Macrae and Neighbours heartthrob Benjamin Hart.
There has never been an event like Summer Gay Day on the Sydney calendar, and it’s really exciting to be a part of it, event marketing manager Tim Duggan said.
We know this day is going to be the start of something really great for our city and can’t wait for everyone to party with us.
Summer Gay starts at noon at Kippax Lake, Centennial Parklands. Red Ribbon merchandise will be available for sale at the event as part of World AIDS Day. Details: www.summergayday.com.au and www.worldaidsdaynsw.org.
