Glebe rowers celebrate success in Melbourne

The gay members of the Glebe Rowing Club took home two gold and one silver from the Asia Pacific Outgames held in Melbourne over the weekend.

Participating in the event for the first time, their weekend was filled with action and well deserved successes.

Though the Men’s Quad met an unfortunate ending – capsizing during their race – coxswain Mark Ames seemed nonetheless happy with the crowd’s response.

“After months of training it was disappointing not being able to complete the course. However, Glebe showed great esprit de corps and we received a huge cheer from the great, friendly crowd,” he said.

It was team mates Keiran Passmore, Jones Matos de Silva and Troy Gallant who took home the spate of medals for the club, only just missing out on a place in the final by 0.8 of a second.
