Imperial still the queen

Erskineville’s Imperial Hotel was the only Sydney entry to make website www.out.com’s list of the world’s 50 best gay bars.
The pub, which is closed while undergoing the biggest refurbishment in its history, was praised for its architecture, friendliness and drag shows.
“A restoration is under way, but right now the Imperial is a faded beauty queen reliving her prime. There’s zero attitude but a ton of frills,” the website stated.
“The final scenes from The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert were shot at the Imperial, and drag legend Mitzi Macintosh has been re-enacting them here ever since.”
