Live At The Church, The Trio Album: Fruit
Despite the cultural cringe factor (as a dyke from Adelaide, dyke folk singers from Adelaide tend to cause this reviewer some serious sweats) there’s nothin’ wrong with Fruit. Sure, they can be a bit earnest. And yes, if you want synths you’re going to be disappointed. Their latest release sees them shaking off the shackles of percussion and turning three-piece, which is their current touring line-up as well.
Fruit fans will love it, but everyone looking for a good introduction to what could be Australia’s most hard-working touring band might be better off buying the slicker 2001 album Here For Days. Fruit are playing at the Basement tonight (Thursday 18 November) and the Clarendon Hotel in Katoomba tomorrow night (Friday 19 November).
