Love songs from the heart
She’s been nominated for a Tony Award and even won a Barrymore Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Now Christine Andreas is coming to Sydney to share her love and passion for music.
She will perform a new cabaret show entitled Love is Good from October 25-27 at City Tattersalls Club.
“People might be curious and come and see. And I think if there’s somebody your in love with and you want the most romantic evening of your life, you would not be disappointed to come and see our show,” Andreas said.
“God gifted me with a very interesting with an empathetic sound and usually people cry a lot. The room is quiet and I hold you in the palm of my hand in the most loving way.”
Andreas’s Broadway credits include Words and Music, Angel Street, Rags, Legs Diamond and Stardust. Tracks from the show also appear on her new album, alongside tunes by Peter Allen and Clint Black.
“I like all kinds of music and if I’m going to do an evening of music, it’s a combination of many different styles. I don’t really think about what styles I think about what I want to say and what I want to sing,” Andreas said.
“I don’t really think about where they’re from – I hear the song and I go, ‘I have to sing that song,’ because it’s just something that touches me. I’m very intuitive about the music and what will be the most entertaining.”
Andreas is passionate about gay rights and recently performed at an AIDS Trust event in America. She said sexuality should not be an issue if you love from the heart.
“It doesn’t matter does it? I mean love is love,” she said.
“Love is not easy it’s challenging and difficult and it brings up every fear in you. You’ve just got to deal with it and work through it. I try to find love songs that say all of this.”
