Rumours are flapping that Bette Midler will be bringing her Kiss My Brass tour to Australia early next year: the first time the Divine Miss M has performed down under since 1978.

Notable Show Queen journalist leaked the news to the Star via a source at a prominent Sydney theatre -“ a venue that since denied any such booking. A second source in events promotion said the rumours were absolutely true and Midler would arrive in April -“ and referred the Star to Paul Dainty Promotions. They also denied it.

The tour schedule at Midler’s official website stops at December 2004 and Visa Preferred Seating is currently taking names on its waiting list for a Bette Midler concert. But did Visa know any details? It’s just a rumour at this stage, said the receptionist. Just because we’re taking names doesn’t mean it’s gonna happen.

If the real Bette doesn’t make it, however, we can reveal that Belinda Lemon is reviving her Midler Tribute show: so watch this space.
