No ALP unity over relationship registers
ACT Attorney-General Simon Corbell defended the ACT’s proposed civil partnerships, including its ceremonial aspects, in a press conference yesterday.
It followed a warning from Federal Attorney-General Robert McClelland during the equality announcement that he would oppose any measures that seek to mimic marriage.
Corbell welcomed the equality reforms but said it wasn’t real equality unless it covered everything and that meant equal relationship recognition.
