Priscilla gets unplugged and unplucked for Aurora
Excerpts from one of the GLBT community’s favourite theatre productions Priscilla: The Musical will be making a guest appearance at Slide on Monday 26 May and it’s all for a good cause.
Charity organisation The Aurora Group announced the exciting news this week as cast members Trevor Ashley and Genevieve Lemon are set to join other members of the musical for an evening of song, stories and backstage gossip.
Aurora is very excited to be working with some of the cast from such a brilliant production as Priscilla, Aurora chairperson Alex Sosnov said.
Aurora invites the community to join us for another fabulous evening of great food, wine, music and laughter.
Ashley played the role of hostess Miss Understanding in the production, which has had successful, sold-out seasons in Sydney and Melbourne. Lemon played the role of pub owner Shirl in the Sydney season, before taking the role of Mrs Wilkinson in Billy Elliot, for which she recently won the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
Priscilla Unplugged and Unplucked is going to be an exclusive and intimate affair, with tickets expected to sell out. Tickets are $100, which includes a three-course dinner plus wine.
It is the first major Aurora fundraiser this year and marks what is expected to be a calendar rich in fundraising opportunities for the organisation.
In 2007 Aurora events raised more than $80,000 and supported eight different GLBT community organisations and projects. One of the main aims of the charity is to promote and provide education for young GBLT people through various strategies and particularly through role modelling, leadership and philanthropic acts in the community.
The group raises funds through two main categories of activities -“ a giving program and events. It is the fundraising organisation people choose when they want their money to benefit the community as a whole and not just one specific cause.
Tickets for Priscilla Unplugged and Unplucked are on sale now. Bookings: [email protected] or 8323 4041. For more details on the charity visit www.auroragroup.com.au.
