Search continues for Australia’s A-Gays

The search is still on to find Australia’s most influential gays and lesbians.

Website www.samesame.com.au, in conjunction with Sydney Star Observer, is looking for Australia’s 25 key gays and lesbians, to be announced later this year.

“The gay and lesbian community is made up of lots of amazing individuals,” SameSame’s Tim Duggan said.

“SameSame.com.au hopes that through this initiative we can highlight and reward these people and show the rest of the country just how strong, vibrant and unique the gay and lesbian community really is.”

Sydney Star Observer Publishing Editor Scott Abrahams said he was pleased with the nominees to date.

“Response to the launch of this initiative has been fantastic,” he said. “People are really responding to this idea, which is helping show the diversity of people within our community.”

Nominees must be Australian citizens who have publicly acknowledged being gay or lesbian. Nominations close 12 September and the list will be decided by a panel of community judges. The final 25 will be announced at a cocktail party in October.

To nominate any Australian to be a member of the Same Same 25, go to www.SameSame.com.au/25.
