The Sydney Catholic Gay Group, Acceptance, is giving World Youth Day 2008 an early Mardi Gras makeover to become World Gay Day on 1 March.

While tongue in cheek, our Mardi Gras float this year also reflects the 30-year history of Mardi Gras and the 2008 theme, Brave New Worlds, Acceptance committee member Tim said.

Our key message to people watching the gay community and the Catholic church is that it is okay to be gay and Catholic.
