SPECTRUM AND SCORE

Arq nightclub will be holding a special colour night on Friday 1 June, where the Arena level will embrace a gold dress code for Spectrum. DJs Jayson Forbes and Justin Scott will be playing from 11pm. Downstairs at the Vortex Bar, clubbers will be divided into three colours for Score: green for the singles, red for the taken and orange for the open relationships. Doors open at 9pm with DJs Miss Gee, Jimmy Dee and Sandi Hotrod. Entry is $10 for both levels.

Wednesday Fun

With inspiration from Popstarz in London, the Flinders Hotel has been inspired to have its own alternative night called Blow Up every Wednesday. Entry is free with DJs Concha, Jack Shit, Mitzi and Bi-Pola Bear playing indie beats. Keeping the atmosphere queer, drag queers and go-go boys will also be performing.

NEW PLAY

The Darlinghurst Theatre will launch its newest productions tonight, Thursday 31 May. Gay actor Neil Phipps stars in the first show This Is A Play, where his character is questioning his sexuality because he keeps on thinking about Jake Gyllenhaal. The show gives a peek into the backstage world of the entertainment industry exposing the divas, dramas and dilemmas. Also being showcased is Never Swim Alone, a comedic piece about two highly competitive businessmen. The two plays will continue until Saturday 30 June. Festival italiano

The Italian film festival continues this Sunday 3 June at Circular Quay with food tastings and performances from music star Alfio as well as album signings. That night, Alfio will be joined by Patrizio Buanne to sing for the legendary screen actress Sophia Loren, who will be hosting an exclusive VIP dinner at the Miramare Gardens in Terrey Hills.  MIKA

With gay rumours flooding the internet, music sensation Mika will be in Australia this Saturday 2 June at the Entertainment Quarter to perform songs from his debut album Life In Cartoon Motion, including his hit single Grace Kelly. His camp performances have been described as similar to those of the Scissor Sisters, and he’s here for one night only. Tickets start from $44 and can be booked from www.moshtix.com.au.
