The Shangri-La Collective

The Shangri-La Collective

A new exhibition at the Artspace gallery entitled The Shangri-La Collective features the work of 30 women artists, each of whom has created a three-minute video that defines her sense of utopia. The catch is that they all have to sing, from a repertoire of tunes chosen from the 1973 musical bomb Lost Horizon. Artists include Maria Cruz (who conceived the project), Emily Price (from the King Pins), Julie Rrap, Jacky Redgate and Lisa Andrew. Artspace is located at The Gunnery, 43-51 Cowper Wharf Road, Woolloomooloo, and the exhibition runs from 3 to 26 April.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can

LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.

When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.

Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
